  1. Hi Ben! I am a graphic design student (i.e. on a budget :)) on the hunt for a new laptop. I usually work with a lot of layers and use illustrator at the same time as either photoshop or indesign. Is the most important thing to take in to consideration RAM or is something else equally as important? I was recently able to borrow a samsung 3 360 i7 16gb ram and it was not powerful enough to manage all my layers. Do you have any recomendations?

  2. Would the Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop 16-aa0010ca GeForce® RTX 4050 run photoshop with no issues? I am concerned about the 4050 with only 6 gb. Appreciate the advice.

  3. What would you recommend in my case: I am a graphic designer working with a setup of 3 monitors (1 main BenQ monitor 4K, 2 Samsung side monitors FHD for the tool panels, Browser, office programs, etc.). I am working most of the time with the up-to-date versions of the common Adobe CC software like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and the Bridge. The OS needs to be Windows.

Since our IT department would like to replace laptops only every 5 years, I would like to be prepared for future software upgrades, especially since AI is becoming more and more integrated into the Adobe tools. So money really isn’t a topic here – I would rather spend 5.000 € or $ for a proper laptop, if it makes me able to work smoothly for the next years.

So, you got any recommendation for me?

  4. About halfway through the video you’re showing the wrong comparison images of the laptops you’re talking about

  5. I just need something for ai illustratior and ps adobe that has great color accuracy and hold a lot of space on the laptop any main specific suggestions for this price range I’m looking to spend is 2k

  6. Can you make a video What are best laptops for Graphic Designing, Photo Editing, Digital Art and Video Editing?

  7. Any laptop suggestions for product designing. Still confused what to choose…my list are Spectre, galaxy book4pro ultra7, mac pro m3max…please suggest me which to choose…other laptops are also fine

  8. Dell xps is pure trash.. It throttles constantly as it cant deal with heat generated inaide the laptop and also it is absolutely no where near colour accurate it just has great colour gamut which is not useful as long as it is not colour accurate

  9. Seems like if you go the PC Laptop way – you can only get like 1.5-2 hour of battery life for video editing. Pretty horrible. 🤔
Won’t go the Apple M2-M3 way. Heard about Qualcomm CPU’s coming out in the future to fight the M2/M3, yet, who knows if Photoshop/ Davinic / After Effects will support this CPU..? 🤔

  10. Hello guys, I am a student looking for a laptop for studying and for graphic design
    * I am not graphic design student I am just interested in *
and I would like to use something to study and doing my own design, so which one you think is better for me ?
    Thank you.

  11. Hey…. I just came across your channel and I did subscribe.. hope you or your subscribers can help me.. I’m now retired and taking up photography and video… I’m new to cameras and a newbie to computers and never owned Apple. I bought a Canon r6 mark ii with a couple lenses and now looking for a laptop to learn photo and video editing. I’m looking at the MacBook pro m2/ m3 pro or max…. can anyone give me advice on if the base m2/m3 Pro will handle this for a couple years or do I jump to the m2/m3 max base model? I want a 14 inch model and under 3000 that will last a couple years of learning editing photos and videos…. thanks all for the help….. THANK YOU!!!!

  12. I can’t seem to find your review of the new Spectre (referenced at the 21:03 mark) anywhere on your channel- can you please link it here? I’m debating between that & the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360…

  13. Photoshop & Illustrator have recently increased their dependency on GPU, not only for indispensable scrubby zoom & navigation, but are now heavily pushing their AI tools & generative processing.
I wouldnt count on integrated graphics to do the job

  14. I just bought the Lenovo Legion pro 5i thanks to your videos. I got it for under $2000 completely maxed out with i9 13900HX, 2 TB 32 GB rtx 4070. I think this was such a great deal.

  15. Hey if everyone has experience with this laptop (Asus zenbook 14 oled) can u tell me how useful was it for graphic design?

  16. I received different answers to this question, but I need yours: do we need a 4K monitor for editing 4K video or we can do it just fine on a, for instance, Legion pro 5i which as a 2.5K monitor?

  17. about to be a graphic design online student who would also like to do casual gaming. I was set to switch to the ROG g14 but after watching this video I have no idea what to get now. anyone who can give me more guidance based on what I need would be highly appreciated !

  18. Im searching for a laptop to start a graphic design course. I’ve always used Apple Mac and I’m not comfortable in changing the brand (too many options out there). I guess Apple it’s not the best on the market for what I have to do so I’m really open to listen to some alternative. Thank you

  19. Hi Ben. My grandson just graduated from high school and started graphic design classes in college. He has to purchase the Adobe Cloud software and a computer that supports this software. I’ve raised him and other siblings from birth and my income is very limited. I’m needing to find a low budget computer that will synthesize software. He also says that he will need to be able to use a stylus with the laptop. I currently own a iPad 8th generation tablet with a Crayola stylus. Would he be able to use it to get started with his assignments? ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  20. Hi, can anyone help a non-tech person to choose the best display panel for photoshop please? I’m using an old HP Omen 17.3inch LCD IPS laptop at the moment but I need to buy a new laptop. The variety of screens is baffling me, I’m quite happy with the IPS LCD one that I have. So there’s a lot of LED screens around now, some are QHD some are FHD, I’ve seen demonstrations on Youtube of blooming with LED panels which puts me off. I can’t afford an OLED anyway. Anyone help please?

  21. Hi Ben, I am completely stuck between the 14" 7i Yoga and 14" HP Envy 2-in-1.. Both seem to be in the mid range of cost and this is mainly for Photoshop, illustrator and maybe a some light video editing.. I could not quite tell which you would favor from your video.. Anyone else got a view?

  22. My daughter desperately needed to move on from her old basic Intel 6th gen HP laptop from high school to run the Adobe suite, 3Ds Max and Blender, plus to let her get into video editing and animation. Basically something capable enough to last her through her uni years and hopefully early into her career once she graduates. I pulled the trigger on the Legion 5i coz it has the best bang for buck for its 14900HX CPU, 16GB+16GGB of RAM, an 8GB RTX4060 GPU, a nice 1600p IPS screen, a 1TB SSD (adding a 2TB Kingston NV2 single-sided SSD in the 2nd slot myself later), plus it came with a headphone, mouse, laptop backpack and even a 24" monitor almost for free. Pairs very well with the XP-Pen Innovator 16 screen tablet that I got for her last year.

I find it hard to overlook Lenovo’s offerings coz where I live it’s one of the very few makes that allow you to spec up the components, plus there’s always a discount available. I’m a part-time PhD student myself, so there’s also the additional student discount to boot. The total damage came to US$1600 – it was by no means cheap, but certainly a bloody bargain for what we got compared to what we’re seeing in this video.

  23. Thank you for going through so many models. My 2021 Legion 7i is not doing so well after a terrible drop by some baggage handlers, so it’s time to get a replacement. I will say as a professional wedding, event and portrait photographer, a dedicated GPU on Windows is essential. I frequently need to use AI denoise, and generative remove in Lightroom Classic. A dedicated GPU means several hours saved each job. Having a dedicated GPU also means that a machine can continue to usable during massive Lightroom exports. We’ve just entered the era where you need access to these AI tools.

  24. when it comes to graphics design or photography the apple is the worst for it because its slower than most laptops with a dedicated GPU because if you are into either you also want rendering speed also you would want to dabble in a little videography and the Apple screens are also not great.

  25. I’m looking at an Acer Swift Go 16inch, Intel Core Ultra 7 16GM, 1TB SSD (NX.KSHSA -001) My main use is for my photography and processing raw files in Lightroom. Just wondering if this would be up to the task?

  26. You lost me when you said (11:10) that as a photographer I don’t need a dedicated GPU. Almost all photo editing using AI requires a GPU to work. My older i7 Yoga takes 20 minutes to convert a NRAW file to a Demosaiced DNG in DxO PureRaw.

  27. Hi Ben! Would you recommend getting the new HP Spectre x360 14 for graphic designing and photography purposes? What are your thoughts on this?

  28. Now i know you made a video ben and ive watched it but what labtop would you recommend for using a drawing tablet cause im in the market and in the need of one to use the tablet thank you.

  29. Hello guys, I have a question because I don’t have any knowledges in terms of computer !

For design, video and photo editing, should I get the « Macbook Pro 14/16 M3 pro » or the « Asus ProArt Studio Book Pro 16 OLED » or the « Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED »

My budget should be at $2500, I can go maximum to $2600.

Thank you all for your replies !!

  30. Apple laptops, 8GB acts like 16GB, 16GB acts like 32GB; 256GB SSD works like 512GB SSD ; 33Wh battery works like 66Wh; When you pay USD2k, you are actually paying USD1k… 😛
